Although I am the Director of this program, I feel honored to be part of a teaching staff that displays the caring for our students as we do for our high school students. I am also blessed with the opportunity to work and partner with a strong University that has the same passion and caring for students. Our program is honored to be part of the University of St. Francis College of Education REAL program.
I have taught and been an administrator in Illinois public schools for 33 years, the last 10 as a building administrator/department chair at Highland Park High School. After retiring from Highland Park in 2006, I was named Principal of Westosha Central High School in Paddock Lake Wisconsin and spent 3 years in that position before retiring in 2010. During my administrative tenure in Illinois, I continued to be involved in Driver Education.
In the Spring of 2016, I became more heavily involved with the Illinois High School and College Driver Education Association. Our first task was to bring the teacher requirement language up to date with ISBE. This work developed into a greater task of developing the Teacher Endorsement Program. Our program has been in existence for 7 years and has completed over 450 candidates for the endorsement in Safety and Driver Education. On the personal side, I am married to my wife Cathy, and we have 4 four adult children and two grandsons. We reside in Spring Grove, Illinois.
