USF ADJUNCT STAFF

SARAH DOUGLAS

I am Sarah Douglas, and I am thrilled to be joining you for the upcoming course in our DE endorsement series at USF. Having had the pleasure of meeting some of you recently, I am looking forward to continuing our discussions and learning together during our upcoming Zoom meetings.

To give you some background, I graduated from DePaul University with a degree in Kinesiology and completed my master's in Educational Leadership. For the past 19 years, I have dedicated myself to teaching at Highland Park High School, where I also oversee our district's summer school Driver Education program. In addition to my teaching role, I am honored to be a Golden Apple winner, recognized for excellence in teaching and educational innovation.

My journey in education has been furthered by additional endorsements in Special Education and ESL, which have deepened my understanding and practice in supporting diverse learners. I have been actively involved in curriculum development for both classroom and behind-the-wheel (BTW) settings, aiming to enhance our student drivers' preparation.

In addition to my educational endeavors, I have coached softball for 20 years and basketball for 13 years. These coaching experiences have been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to foster teamwork and leadership skills among my students both on and off the field.

As co-director of Region 2 and a frequent presenter at state conferences, I am passionate about sharing insights and strategies that can positively impact driver education programs statewide. These experiences have allowed me to collaborate with educators and continuously improve our practices in this critical area.
